Contact stress analyse of interference fit of axle and wheel of the vehicle

Abstract£ºA interference fit model of axle and wheel is set up in the FEA software ansys. The expanding Lagrange multiplier method is applied to analyze the nonlinear contact problem. The law of stress distribution is gained. Comparing stress distribution between solid axis structure and a hollow axle structure show that the increase of the inner hole diameter can lower material loss, reduce the weight of the structure, effectively avoid the stress concentration of the surface of fit model of axle and wheel and the hub webs. But the more stress present at the part of the axial and wheel which contains the web.
